G Nabonnand

A majestic rose this G Nabonnand. Bred in 1888 by Gilbert Nabonnand G. Nabonnand probably is his finest rose.

Parentage is unknown but Guillot said it was a descendant of Safrano (as always).

Large, very double, light pink or apricot flowers with a very light carmine pink shading. Sometimes the flowers are beautifully quartered making them even more luxurious. Fragrance is a good moderate Tea.

Quite vigorous this G Nabonnand as she can get 2X2 meters or 7X7 feet but usually she stays a bit smaller. Blooms in flushes throughout the season and the flowers are borne solitary.

Zone 7b to 11b. Heat and drought resistant. Doesn't like shade or pruning. Needs full sun and a warm spot to perform optimal. Rain tolerance is medium to good

The rose Jean Ducher in commerce is identical to G Nabonnand. It's one and the same rose

A rose of rare beauty
