Anna Olivier & Lady Roberts

Bred by Claude Ducher in 1872 Anna Olivier still is an old favorite, especially in Australia

Parentage is unknown but Guillot said Anna Olivier was a descendant of Safrano, my cheeky little brat rose 😃.

Large, rather full, light pink with salmon pink center. The bottom of the petals are orange to coppery pink. The flowers stand in small clusters or are borne solitary. A very strong Tea fragrance is one of her major characteristics. It's so strong, it blew me away. It's even stronger than Lady Hillingdon and that rose has a very strong Tea scent. The flowers nod towards us which is so typically Tea

Anna can get 150X150 cm and maybe a bit more in ideal circumstances but usually she stays a bit below that estimate so 5 X 5 feet. Foliage and wood is grey green and healthy.

Reblooming is terrific so very fast. Four to five flushes is no exception. Mine is again filled with buds and it's 18 September 2024.
Zone 7b to 10b. Loves dry and hot summers. She definitely hates rain as her petals turn light brown rather quickly. Full sun and little to no pruning!

A more apricot Sport was discovered by Cant in the UK and she got the name Lady Roberts. Identical in every aspect except for color. Lady Roberts has the habit to reverse to Anna Olivier quit quickly. This means that during her lifespan your Lady Roberts can turn into Anna Olivier again.

I have both in my garden and I really love them. I have forgiven her getting brown in the rain as she's gorgeous and so fragrant during hot and dry weather.

Try her!
