Because it's a found rose we don't know it's parents but the rose has many features of Safrano and Rêve d'or but on a bigger scale.
It's a climber of approx 350 cm or 11 feet with plenty of twiggy shoots. The big oval buds are saffron yellow and open into very large, very double, buff, saffron and apricot flowers. A strong Tea fragrance is present. They are mostly borne solitary in small clusters. From late spring to late autumn the blooms keep appearing
It's a rose ideal for trellis, obelisks, tripods, piramides and walls. She's considerably Hardy and can be grown between zone 6b and 10b. Heat and drought resistant this rose is ideal for hot spots. She can take a fair amount of rain before the flowers turn bad. Health is very good although some mildew can occur but nothing serious.
As with most Teas and Tea Noisettes Ladevèze Safron Tea doesn't like harsh pruning. Especially the first three to four years it's recommended NOT to prune the rose except for dead wood
I bought the rose in October 2024 so we'll see how she will perform in my garden.
