* Elie Beauvillain:
This magnificent climbing Dijon Tea is rather unknown in Europe but I'm making a lot of publicity for it as it's a wonderful rose.
Elie Beauvillain is a Gloire de Dijon child as her mother, Gloire de Dijon was crossed with the Tea Ophirie. Gloire de Dijon, sadly lost most of her vigor and today she's only a shadow of its former self. Luckily we have some direct offspring and these are quite good roses. Mme Bérard for example and also my Elie Beauvillain.
Light pink with coppery undertones, full, scalloped bloom shape in small clusters. They have a mild Tea fragrance. It's a strong and vigorous rose and I had to plant her into the ground only five months after she was planted in a big pot. She grew 250 cm in that period or 7 feet. I chose to plant her against a tall Obelisk as this was recommended by the HMF members which are growing her. I swirled her around horizontally and this triggered many lateral shoots. She bloomed end of May 2024 for the first time. The HMF community was divided on if she's reblooming or not. Most said she's not but... Surprise ! Mine got buds again end of August so she has a good rebloom.
Elie will get 5 meters or 15 feet but she can be trained on an obelisk or pillar but an arch or pergola is also perfect. Zone 7b to 10b, rain, heat and drought resistant.
It's good we still have Gloire de Dijon children as they have the same baroque élégance of their mom. Elie Beauvillain is a very good example!
