Fortune's double yellow

Fortune's double yellow is one of the greatest gems in the rose world. It was a chance seedling discovered by Fortune in 1844

There has been lots of speculation about who the parents were but even today it's not entirely clear. Is it a Hybrid Gigantea? Hybrid China? Hybrid Noisette ?

Today she's mostly regarded as a Tea or a Hybrid Gigantea and yes she shares a lot of features with R. Gigantea. No matter of which denomination she is, Fortune's double yellow is a rose of Majestic beauty.

It's a once blooming variety but it lasts for several weeks. Very large, double, loose, cupped flowers in a stunning color combination: light yellow with several shades of pink. They stand in clusters and spread a good strong Tea fragrance. A sight to behold when in full flush

Not only it's flowers adds to the majesty of this rose but also it's size. She can be grown as a big shrub but when you give her the space she can get really big, at least 11 meters tall and three meters wide (33 X 9 feet). Imagine a rose of this size covered with these flowers.

She's hardy in zones 7b to 10b and takes rain well. Heat and drought resistant but definitely must have full sun.
